Skagit Valley Detachment No. 1043: Minutes 17 March 2015

Commandant Shane Inman called the meeting to order at 1900;

Roll Call of Officers: All present and or accounted for.

M/S/P: To accept the February minutes.

 Initiation Ceremony: New member, Elmer Berri, served in the Marines 1964-1968. Elmer retired in 2012 after 50 years as a truck driver. He is sponsored by Mike Mitchell.

Chaplain’s Report: Member or member’s family sick or in distress: Randy Pepper, Jerry Shukis and Bill McCutchin.  Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Report of Paymaster: “We are solvent.”

Honor Buckle: Marine Carney is negotiating with a new foundry for a brass buckle, which will significantly reduce the Honor Buckle cost.

Veterans Assistance: Marine Shere informed us that the Burlington American Legion will have a Stand Down on 26 March 2015 from 9:00-3:00. Community Action will be handing out food and clothing to homeless vets and their family.

ROTC: Marine Mocabee arranged with Col. Rice at Burlington High school to award MCL Citizenship Ribbon. Col. Rice will select the ROTC recruits that qualify for a Citizenship Ribbon.   MCL requirements are that recipients must pass the USMC PT test.

Introduction of Guests: Mark Hall’s son, James and daughter-in law, Leitcia Hall, are both former Marines. Commandant Inman reintroduced MCL members Jack Gubrud, Jerry Wachsmuth, Jack Bowen, Jim Angell, and Bob McDaniels. Randy Brook’s guest was Gill Fonner.

Toys for Tots: Commandant Inman presented USMC Reserve Toys for Tots COMMANDER AWARDS to Mike Baier, Bob McDaniels Ted Carney, and Jack Grubrud.

  • We donated $300.00 to Sedro-Woolley Community Troop Support association December 2014.
