He also volunteered to be on the committee, but is requesting one or two more people to be on the committee with him. Marine Randy Pepper volunteered to serve on this committee. There was also some discussion to change the wording on the cover page of the application to add trade school and be more specific about teacher letters of recommendation.

The project needs support from all the veteran organizations and their leaders. Marine Olivarez hopes to have this ready by the end of the year. As of Friday, June 23rd, Marine Olivarez will be the new State Commander for the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Also, there is now a County Service Officer for our county. Toys for Tots: Marine Steve Blasdell advised the credit card receipts for the food we served totaled $410 plus any cash we took in. The concert itself took in just over $40,000 but, the two bands and sound personnel haven’t been paid yet. Leroy Bell is $5,000, Rabbit Wilde is $1,000 and the amount for the sound is unknown. When all is said and done, the proceeds will be just over $30,000. That amount will be updated when the information is available. The Eagle Haven Winery is up for sale. It is unknown at this time, if it will sell so we may have to look for a new venue next year. The ribs were served for dinner tonight and that brought in $130 and the remaining racks of ribs were sold at the meeting for $10/slab. Commandant Walker thanked all who volunteered their time for the concert. He also suggested Marine Blasdell talk to Dan Hyatt so the League will be the only vendor. There will also be a cake and a cake cutting ceremony. The price is $30/person. Marine Dan Cantrell requested that each person include their years in the Marine Corps on the returned invitation. If you were in the Marine Corps from 1955-1975, you will receive a pin and a letter of thanks from the President and there will be a ceremony. Please send the invitation back even if you are not going to attend so you can get your pin.

North Cascades Harley: Because of the inclement weather, this event will be changed to “Christmas in July” and hopefully draw 200300 riders. They will also sponsor “1,000,000 Mile Year”. All M/C riders need to register at the dealership. Based on the number of miles, the dealership will make a donation to Toys for Tots or Burn Camp. The person who rides the most can pick their favorite charity. Commandant Inman will pass this information onto the American Legion Riders and Combat Vets.

Marine Carney is just getting organized, getting a set of plans for the monuments, what the actual memorial is going to look like which will include bathrooms and a nice picnic shelter. Marine Carney advised he will keep the MCL apprised of the progress. Commandant Inman advised he would contact the VFW and the Legions in SedroWoolley, Concrete and Burlington to make sure they are aware of the project.
